With just a couple of weeks remaining in Indiana's high school football regular season, many fans are looking forward to next week's showdown of unbeatens, between Reitz and Mater Dei. The Central Bears though, might have something to say about that.
The Wildcats and the Bears will face off Friday night, in our Touchdown Live Game of the Week. Central would love to send Mater Dei into next week's matchup at the Reitz Bowl, with a '7-1' next to the Wildcats name.
The Bears are coming off an impressive 41-14 victory over Memorial, that snapped Central's 3-game losing streak. Running back Dorian Williams stepped in for an injured Tias Stewart, putting up 271 yards and scoring three touchdowns on 48 carries.
Mater Dei meanwhile, won it's 7th consecutive game to start the season, easily handling Bosse 59-6. The Wildcats have now won 25 straight regular season games. Their last non-playoff loss came in October of 2012.
Even though Mater Dei is unbeaten, they haven't looked unbeatable. Castle, Harrison and Tri-West all had a shot at beating the Wildcats, but Mike Goebel's club found a way to win in the end.
I think that will be the case again on Friday night. Andy Owen's Bears put up a fight, but Mater Dei comes out victorious.
Prediction: Mater Dei- 35, Central- 27
