Liquor license approved for Albion restaurant

Liquor license approved for Albion restaurant
Gov. Eric Holcomb says he "won't let too many Sundays pass" before signing the bill.

ALBION, IL (WFIE) - An Albion, Illinois business is one step closer to becoming the first restaurant in the city allowed to sell alcohol.

The city council voted to give El Rancherito a liquor license.

However, the Mexican restaurant still has to get permission from the state.

Right now, the only places in Albion serving alcohol are the VFW, the Moose Lodge and the American Legion.

Convenience store owners asked the council to allow package liquor licenses, but members voted it down.
