Annual Lighthouse Parade returns for 35th year

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - It wouldn't be a Fall Festival without a crowd favorite - the annual lighthouse parade.

This was the 35th year for the event.

Every year, local elementary school kids build floats that light up to see who can come up with the most creative designs.

The idea is for the kids to do a lot of the work on their own, but sometimes they have to ask their parents for help.

"My dad helped me with it," said Isaac Randall.  "He did pretty good. He put the lights on the bottom of the wagon."

All of the contestants receive goodie bags at the end of the parade with treats and ride tickets, and the top 20 float-makers even win trophies.
