MT. CARMEL, IL (WFIE) - Mt. Carmel, Illinois was glowing blue Wednesday to show support for law enforcement officials, locally and nationally.
Sandy Keneipp saw the idea on Facebook to decorate with blue to show support for law enforcement. Her brother is a police officer, so she decided to try it herself.
Instantly, people from the community jumped on board.
One business made T-shirts and decals to sell.
Money raised will go to "Shop with a Cop or Firemen." Others donated food for the police officers and deputies to eat. Some gave gift cards.
For seven hours, Sandy and a group of volunteers put up ribbons, blue lines, balloons and neon lights all over the city.
Sandy says the message is simple. She believes these men and women are heroes.
