TELL CITY, IN (WFIE) - A new grant program could help Tell City fill about 300 jobs available right now.
Mayor Barbara Ewing says the $250,000 grant would fund training classes for skilled labor jobs in the county.
Ewing says the city has partnered with other neighboring counties because workers commute in for jobs.
She says they're committed to the project one way or the other.
"Prior to the Office of Community and Rural Affairs introducing this pilot program, we were beginning to take steps," says Tell City Mayor Barbara Ewing. "However, with the award of such a grant, if we receive it, it would only enhance and enable us to move forward.
Ewing says right now they're trying to figure out who's going to teach the classes.
She says the grant application is due by the end of October.
