HOPKINS CO., KY (WFIE) - Renovations will soon be underway on the historic Hopkins County Courthouse in downtown Madisonville.
The county will spend more than $697,000 replacing the heating, cooling, and ventilation system.
County officials say the project will be done in phases and the new units will be energy efficient.
County Treasurer Cindy Jones' office used to be in the Hopkins County Courthouse.
"In the dead of winter it might be 90 degrees in my office so it wasn't very energy efficient even at that time," Jones told us.
County officials say some of the current units are over 30 years old.
