EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - People everywhere are feeling the excitement of Pope Francis' first visit to the United States.
Students at Holy Rosary in Evansville celebrated his arrival by holding a prayer service in his honor.
They also signed a huge banner that they plan to post on social media.
"If nothing else he'll feel the grace from our prayers," said Father Bernie Etienne. "The first thing he asked for when he came out on the balcony, after being announced as new pope, was he asked for people to pray for him so we continue that tradition."
"It's really cool that the pope is visiting the U.S. to experience the American culture," said Paige Royalty, an 8th grader at Holy Rosary. "We'll kind of be connected to him in a little way."
