City of Carmi upgrading park security system

CARMI, IL (WFIE) - Carmi's city parks are getting a brand new security system.

That's after a stabbing at Bradshaw Park prompted police and city leaders to look into changes.

City council members unanimously voted to upgrade it. The city is buying 9 digital night vision cameras for about $14,000.

Police Chief Jason Carter says officers will be able to look at the footage any time in real time.

He had pushed for new cameras and also for a park curfew.

Right now, no curfew is in place.
