MT. CARMEL, IL (WFIE) - Mt. Carmel city leaders could eliminate traffic lights along a main road.
The plans show crews would start by removing the light at 6th and Market.
That four-way stop would become a two-way stop with stop signs.
Next, they'd take down the flashing lights at other intersections in the business district - at Market and 3rd, Market and 4th and Market and 5th Streets.
Officials say this is needed because the lights are old. They hope it would improve traffic flow.
Commissioners vote on it September 14.
