HENDERSON, KY (WFIE) - Even before the first shovel of dirt has been turned, the Audubon Kids Zone is working to meet needs in Henderson
Lori Reed with Community One says the facility will be an academic and social hub for about 600 students - and it's free.
Reed says the Kids Zone will serve the entire East End, but recently they've visited with South Heights Elementary students at home to build a deep understanding of the community's needs.
"We begin to identify leadership within that area, from parents and students so that they can help us really influence how the building is built and what kind of programming is going in that building. This is grassroots and resident-led," said Reed.
Officials hope to break ground late this year or in early 2016.
