GIBSON CO., IN (WFIE) - Demolition will begin soon on several rundown, abandoned homes in Gibson County.
This is all part of the blight elimination program.
Eight properties are on the list.
They are all over the county, from Princeton to Oakland City.
One resident tells us this is a long time coming.
"They're all bad properties that the state has already come down and already looked at once and deemed them where they're inhabitable," said Thomas Johnstone, the Gibson County Blight Coordinator.
"It is an eyesore," adds Mark Velasquez, who lives in Princeton. "Every time I come sit on my front porch, there's another house over there that needs to be torn down."
Crews hope to have the homes knocked down by the end of the year.
Federal grant money is covering the demolition cost.
