Huntingburg strives to top stellar year

HUNTINGBURG, IN (WFIE) -

After a stellar year, Huntingburg is setting the bar even higher.

In his State of the City address, Mayor Denny Spinner said the past year put the city on a new level, not just for being named a Stellar Community.

Spinner says it's created new challenges to make the city better than it was the year before.

But he says officials and the citizens have proven they're up for the challenge.

"What stellar has done, and what our work over the past three years has done has allowed our community to take a step back, look at what our strengths are and really put them out in the forefront for others to see as well,” said Spinner.  “We've got great community partners that have recognized that and are ready to buy in.”

Spinner says the main focus this year is continued work on 4th Street as well as the Senior Housing project at the Old St. Joseph's Hospital.

Plus, design concepts for Market Street Park will be finalized soon.
