ISP: Man tried to impersonate deputy during Knox Co. traffic stop

KNOX CO., IN (WFIE) -

A Knox County man is in jail  accused of trying to impersonate a deputy sheriff during a traffic stop.

According to Indiana State Police, troopers pulled over 48-year-old Robert Neukam for not signaling.

Troopers say he showed them an ID card indicating he was a reserve deputy sheriff -and had left his badge at home. Troopers called the sheriff's office and found out Neukam had not been a reserve deputy for two years.

He was charged with Impersonation of a Public Servant.
