15 new automated filtered water fountains have been placed in buildings around the University of Evansville campus.
The installation is intended to alleviate the need for buying bottled water.
Over $16,000 was appropriated from the student government association to install the new water fountains.
All students have to do is place their water bottle on it and the water fills right up.
“A lotta students like to be able to buy filtered water so their normal options on campus are to just get bottled water. Storage in a residence hall isn't always adequate, so this will help save them some space, help the environment, and reduce costs,” said Geoff Edwards, UE’s Assistant Dean of Students.
This water fountain has already saved over 1,500 plastic water bottles from being used.
