If you bought a John Deere lawn tractor lately, there's a recall you need to be aware of.

About 1,700 of them are being recalled in the US because the brake arm can fail, posing a crash hazard that could result in serious injury or death.

The recall involves six models in the D series from D110 to  D170 and have serial numbers beginning with 1GXD. They were sold from May through August at Home Depot, Lowe's and other John Deere dealers nationwide.

Consumers should stop using the tractors and contact a John Deere dealer for a free repair.
