Henderson Co. Schools back to school events

HENDERSON CO., KY (WFIE) -

A. B. Chandler Elementary

  • Parent Conversations - Wednesday, August 5, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Parents will have the opportunity to meet the teachers at the school.
  • Home Visit Blitz - Thursday, August 6, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A.B. Chandler staff will visit homes to meet families.

Bend Gate Elementary

  • ABC/123 Night - Tuesday, August 4, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. All incoming kindergarten students and their parents are invited to meet teachers and tour the kindergarten classrooms.
  • Home Visit Blitz - Thursday, August 6, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Teachers and staff will visit each student's home to deliver school information and connect with families.
  • Popsicles on the Playground - Thursday, August 6, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Parents and children are invited to come and spend time with teachers and principals.

Cairo Elementary

  • Back to School Cookout - Tuesday, August 4, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Families will be able to meet their child’s teacher and learn expectations for the new school year.  Students may also bring their school supplies to leave for the 1st day of school. PTA and Childcare information will be available as well. Cafeteria staff will be on hand to deposit money into student lunch accounts.  Dinner will be provided by the Family Resource Center.  
  • Home Visits - Thursday, August 6, from 1:00 to 6:00 pm.  Staff members will be visiting the homes of those students who did not have a parent/guardian come Tuesday to the cookout.  Please contact the school if your address has changed and needs to be updated before the visit.  
  • Kindergarten Jump Start - Friday, August 7, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the school

East Heights Elementary

  • New student enrollment - Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
  • Home Visit Blitz - Thursday, August 6, from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Staff will visit homes to meet families

Jefferson Elementary

  • Home Visit Blitz - Thursday, August 6, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Staff will visit homes to meet families.

Niagara Elementary

  • Back to School Ice Cream Social - Thursday, August 6, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Niagara Elementary. Students will meet their teachers and see their classrooms.
  • Parent Conversations - Friday, August 7, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Parents can discuss any specific information with classroom teachers. No appointment is necessary.
  • Home Visit Blitz - Friday, August 7, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Staff will visit homes to meet families who were not able to attend the social or conversations.

Spottsville Elementary

  • Popsicles on the Playground - Tuesday, August 4
    • For incoming Kindergarteners: parent orientation session will begin at 4:45 p.m. in the gym.  At 5:00 p.m., parents will go to the Kindergarten classrooms for the orientation portion while Kindergarten students will go to the library for a movie. After the orientation session, parents and kindergarteners will go outside to the playground for popsicles.
    • For grades 1 – 5: two orientation sessions will be held:  5:15 p.m. and 6:15 p.m.  Information presented at both sessions will be the same.  Students may play on the playground and enjoy popsicles while parents attend orientation meetings.
  • Home Visit Blitz - Thursday, August 6
    • Teachers and staff will visit the homes of students who were not able to attend Popsicles on the Playground.  Teachers and staff will deliver school information and connect with families.

North Middle School

  • New Student Orientation - Friday, August 7, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Parents and students will be able to walk through the student's schedule and meet teachers during this time.

South Middle School

  • Bulldog University for incoming 6th graders - Thursday, August 6, from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at South Middle School. New students will be able to walk through their schedules and meeting the staff.

Henderson County High School

  • Blue Unit Freshman Orientation - Monday, August 3, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the high school
  • Green Unit Freshmen Orientation - Tuesday, August 4, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the high school
  • Colonel Blitz - Wednesday, August 5 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the high school. Families may come and turn in enrollment forms, pick up schedules, and meet teachers.
  • "Put Me In Coach!" A Guide to Safety And Healthy Sports for the Adolescent Athlete - Wednesday, August 5, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the HCHS Cafeteria. A seminar being held by Kaela McDaniel, the HCHS Athletic Trainer. Information is geared toward the middle school and freshmen athletes and their parents. The public is invited.
  • Red Unit Freshman Orientation - Thursday, August 6, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the high school

Thelma B. Johnson Early Learning Center

  • BornLearning Kick-off - Tuesday, August 4, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. All children up to the age of 4 and families are invited to attend.
  • Parent Orientation - Tuesday, August 11 at 8:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
  • Meet and Greet - Thursday, August 13 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. For children and families
  • Phase in weeks for preschool students begin August 24
