EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

The Evansville EPA and the Vanderburgh County Health Department have issued an Ozone Alert for Saturday, July 25.

The alert means that ozone levels may reach a level that can be "unhealthy for sensitive groups".

It's recommended that children, older adults, people with respiratory diseases, and people who are active outdoors limit prolonged outdoor activity especially between the hours of noon and 7:00 p.m. when the highest levels of ozone are most likely.

The U.S. EPA says exposure to higher levels of ozone can cause lung and throat irritation, shortness of breath, and aggravate respiratory diseases such as asthma, emphysema and bronchitis.
