Newburgh woman says town council doesn't represent the people, decides to run

NEWBURGH, IN (WFIE) -

Newburgh resident Melinda Mitchell says the town council doesn’t represent the people anymore, and she wants to change that.

So, she filed to run for the district one seat.

She had to file as a Libertarian because the primary election is over.

Mitchell says the council voted against the people when they approved rezoning for a Neighborhood Walmart Market, and says she has to do something about it.

She’ll face Council President William Cavanaugh in November.
