Marking the end of Ramadan in Evansville

WARRICK CO., IN (WFIE) - A group gathered at the Islamic Center in Evansville on Saturday to celebrate Eid.

The holiday marks the end of Ramadan which is a holy month of fasting for Muslims.

The president of the Islamic Society of Evansville says it was a day for everyone to come together.

"It's a celebration. Everyone gets together and visits with family and friends," said Bassam Yousef, Islamic Society President.

"Mind, body, and soul is a beautiful experience and as you can see from the sea of humanity, it brings all our good cultures together for something positive," said Faraji Garth.

Typically the celebration lasts several days.
