Evansville fifth and sixth graders attend camp with law enforcement

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

Fifth and sixth graders are spending the week learning about law enforcement in Evansville.

The “Choose Not to Lose” camp is put on by Evansville Police, Vanderburgh County sheriff's deputies, the Prosecutor's office, and the FOP.

Students receive an introductory course in law enforcement and teamwork over a three day period.

EPD Lieutenant Karla Larmore says students enjoy the variety of activities.

"They get to learn gun safety,” Larmore said.  “We show them some of the tools of the trade, and how we use them.  We also put an emphasis on physical fitness and of course a lot of emphasis on fun and safety."

This was the fourth camp of the six that are being offered this summer.
