EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

Important information for drivers.

INDOT will be making changes to several traffic signals along U.S. 41 starting Thursday night.

From 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., the signals will feature a flashing yellow light which will allow drivers to turn left after yielding to oncoming traffic.

From 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., the signals will allow left turns on a green arrow only.

The following intersections (north and southbound) will be affected:

  • U.S. 41 and Covert Avenue
  • U.S. 41 and Lincoln Avenue
  • U.S. 41 and Virginia Street
  • U.S. 41 and Columbia Street
  • U.S. 41 and Morgan Avenue

Previously, drivers were allowed to make a left turn on a green arrow only, no matter what time of day of day.

INDOT officials say they believe the changes will allow for better traffic flow in the evening.
