Daviess Co. Animal Shelter over capacity with kittens and stray cats

DAVIESS CO., KY (WFIE) -

The Daviess County Animal Shelter is asking for the community's help.

The shelter is over capacity with kittens and other stray cats.

Right now, shelter staff say they have close to 80 cats at the facility.

Director Ashley Clark says they usually see a rise in the number of cats this time of year.

One of her main concerns is with so many kittens, comes disease, such as respiratory problems.

“You're putting a lot of animals together that aren't vaccinated,” Clark said.  “They spread it back and forth, so if we can get them into foster homes and keep them isolated from others, then, they have a much better chance of survival rate and being adopted.”

Clark says if they don't find homes, soon, they'll have to start putting some cats down.
