Indiana legislative committee looks to expand statewide smoking ban

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

An Indiana General Assembly "interim study committee" is looking to expand the statewide smoking ban.

When the ban passed three years ago, it exempted casinos and certain private clubs and bars.

Some are concerned if the ban expands, that would take a financial toll on the state's gambling industry.

The interim study committee will also examine the financial impacts of a cigarette tax increase, and placing a tax on e-cigarettes.
