Man arrested for attempted murder after home invasion in Vanderburgh Co.

VANDERBURGH CO., IN (WFIE) -

An Evansville man is under arrest after a home invasion.

It happened around 11:30 Wednesday night in the 2000 block of Westbrook Boulevard.

Sheriff's deputies say the the suspect kicked in the door and began stabbing the victim several times with a large knife.

A woman who lives at the home was also hurt when she tried to to stop the attack.  She was treated at Deaconess Hospital for a cut to her hand and released.

The man is still hospitalized. The sheriff's office says his condition is not believed to be life-threatening.

Deputies say both victims identified the suspect as Kevin Eastwood.

Detectives were able to reach Eastwood by phone and they say he agreed to turn himself in.  

Eastwood was arrested a short time later.

The 24-year-old is facing several charges including attempted murder.
