DAVIESS CO., KY (WFIE) - Disaster Services Corps and Senior Connections in Owensboro are two of several state organizations to receive money from a $3.7 million service grant.
Both organizations are sponsored by the Green River Area Development District.
About $400,000 will go toward paying 30 Ameri-Corps members who volunteer their time with the two organizations.
David Clark with GRADD says the money will greatly benefit the region.
"The sites where our members are placed in the senior connections program, we serve over about 4,000 seniors on a regular basis," Clark said. "Our goal is to reach at least 20,000 people with disaster preparedness information throughout the year."
Ten other state organizations also received money from the grant.
