Evansville library branches host unique animals

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - The Evansville-Vanderburgh Public Library had a kangaroo hopping around between branches Monday.

Animal Tales spent the day visiting libraries and showing off exotic animals to kids.

The children had the chance to get up close to a chinchilla, a hornbill, snakes, and the kangaroo.

According to wildlife biologist Jonathan Hardison, it's important to have kids interact with animals, and education is the goal of this event.

"To learn as much as they can, to be as educational as possible, tell them as many facts as we can," says Hardison. "So they can learn as well as appreciate the animal."

The Animal Tales will be hopping to Red Bank Library at 6 p.m. Monday.
