Evansville JROTC cadets attend summer camp

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

Evansville JROTC cadets are spending their summer hard at work.

Fourteen cadets spent Monday morning at Harrison High School.

They're learning how to repel the school walls. They'll also learn how to navigate maps and use a compass in the three-day camp.

The Evansville JROTC Eagle Battalion has members from all of the EVSC schools, and they're using this camp to train for a state-wide camp.

Staff Sgt. Ulyssia Franklin says it's been a great bonding experience and a lot of hard work.

"The training is really tough and it's hard work,” says Franklin. “But you will get through it, it's fun though, super fun."

The JROTC students will be heading to Camp Atterbury on June 22 for the Cadet Leadership Course.
