Evansville man accused of neglecting family member

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

An Evansville man is in jail accused of neglecting a family member in his care.

Police say 33-year-old Joshua Lindenschmidt told them he had taken the family member in more than a year ago because he had mental issues and could not take care of himself.

Investigators tell us the man, who weighed 200 pounds last year, now weighs just 90 pounds and had sores all over his body.

He's been placed in a care facility.

Police say Lindenschmidt told them he was "in over his head" in the tasks that needed to be done to take care of him.
