Owensboro Plan Commission approves zoning changes for Gateway Commons Development

OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) -

The future Gateway Commons Development on Highway 54 in Owensboro is gaining momentum.

The Owensboro Metropolitan Planning Commission approved zoning changes for the development on Thursday.

The developers requested the property be rezoned from urban agriculture to general business for retail development.

The $330-million project will have stores, a movie theater, restaurants, and condos.

Economic officials say the development could attract other industries to Owensboro.

Planning commission officials say Gateway Commons will be the largest private development in Owensboro and will generate more than $62-million in tax revenue over 20 years.
