Daviess Co., KY officials want clearer property maintenance laws

DAVIESS CO., KY (WFIE) -

Daviess County officials want to beef up the county's property maintenance laws.

The word ‘nuisance' in the current laws is not clearly defined and can make it difficult to handle complaints.

Committee officials say they don't want to interrupt what farmers are doing.

They're mainly focusing on subdivisions outside the Owensboro city limits.

Several community members who attended Monday's meeting voiced frustrations on various eye sores, dilapidated buildings, and messy properties across the county.

Donna Adams told the committee about several properties she says is not being taken care of in the Curdsville area.

She wants people to take care of their properties and have an ordinance that's fair to everyone.

The committee will compile Monday's feedback, go over it, and make recommendations to the fiscal court on modified property maintenance laws.
