Tell City Police report spike in fake IRS calls

PERRY CO., IN (WFIE) -

Authorities say they've had a spike in reports of calls from people claiming to be with the IRS.

Tell City Police say in the past few weeks, they've had dozens of people report receiving calls.

The local H&R Block agency says they've been getting dozens of calls, daily, for the past few weeks.

“People in our area are a little more trusting of someone's word,” said Sue Sanders with H&R Block. “They become more frightened or not as aware of a phone call like this.”

Sanders says if you do get a call, be sure to double check your claims before sending any money.
