Arthritis trouble? Try Tai Chi. - Tri-State News, Weather & Sports

Arthritis trouble? Try Tai Chi.

If your knees are creaking … those hips – aching, there's a chance a new class at St. Mary's Wellness Center might help.

(And the deadline to sign up is Thursday.)

It's Tai Chi. It's like a slow dance that works your joints - emphasizing proper posture.

And it's good for people of all ages and abilities, but this class will focus on people with arthritis.

It's a meditative martial arts class supported by the Arthritis Foundation as a safe and effective way to ease arthritis symptoms, like pain, depression, and decreased range of motion.

It's an 8 week class. It starts the 3rd week of June. You can choose from two classes:

  • Mondays from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m., June 15, 22, 29, July 6, 13, 20, 27, August 3
  • Tuesdays from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m., June 16, 23, 30, July 7, 14, 21, 28, August 4

Classes will be taught by local Certified Instructor Mike Goebel. The class meets at the Wellness Center at St. Mary's Epworth Crossing. Registration is required by Thursday, June 11.

The class is $75 and you can reserve your spot by calling 812-485-5725.
