EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

Evansville Police say they arrested a 16 year old during a traffic stop early Thursday morning.

During the stop, officers searched a bag that was in the backseat where the teen had been sitting and say they found a loaded .380 caliber handgun.

Police say they also found a baggie containing a green leafy substance, two digital scales and sandwich baggies.

A test showed the substance was not illegal, but police say they believe the teen was trying to pass it off as marijuana.

He was arrested for possession of a handgun without a permit, possession of a look-alike substance and possession of paraphernalia.

The teen was taken to the Youth Care Center.
