Final public meeting set for proposed occupational tax in Union Co.

UNION CO., KY (WFIE) -

Residents in Union County will have a final opportunity to voice their opinions on the proposed schools occupational tax.

The tax is half a percent.

If you make $55,000 a year, the monthly amount would be $22.92 or an annual amount of $275.

School board officials expect this tax to generate over $1 million in one year.

Monday's meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. at Uniontown Elementary School.

The tax can be recalled through June 20, if residents petition.

If not, it goes into effect in August.
