Report: NFL teams benefited from military tributes

Most of us have seen the patriotic displays and tributes at NFL games to military veterans.

But did you know that some of those teams got paid to pay tribute?

A report by NJ.com says that 14 NFL teams got a total of $5.4 million from the Department of Defense.

The Indianapolis Colts are listed in the report, which says the team received $620,000 from 2011 to 2014 from the Army, Air National Guard, and the Air Force.

The spending with NFL teams was brought to light by Arizona Senator Jeff Flake.

According to NJ.com, the Guard has defended the practice as a way to recruit and retain soldiers.
