Congressman Guthrie holds round-table discussion on child nutrition

OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) -

Congressman Brett Guthrie was in Owensboro Friday afternoon for a round-table discussion on child nutrition.

The congressman, representing Kentucky's second district, hosted the event at Daviess County Middle School.

School administrators and parents talked about issues they see at Daviess County schools.

Owensboro mother Rheonna Johnson says she appreciates the opportunity to voice her opinion on child nutrition.

“People have no idea how many kids don't have what they need when they go home and how important it is that what is provided at the schools, they're able to eat.”

Congressman Guthrie plans on bringing the ideas he hears across the district, back to Washington, to re-authorize the nation's child nutrition programs.
