Chandler homeowners switching from septic tanks to sewer lines

CHANDLER, IN (WFIE) -

More than 60 homeowners in a Warrick County subdivision are learning they need to switch from septic tanks to sewer lines, and they will be footing the bill.

Town Board President Brian Lucas addressed the resident's concerns at Thursday's meeting.

He estimates it will cost homeowners between $3,000 and $4,000 to connect to the city sewer system, but, he says, there are grants that can help them.

The change is needed for safety reasons.

According to a recent study, groundwater in the neighborhood tested positive for e-coli.

The county is in the process of applying for a grant to help with the $1.3-million project.

Lucas hopes to have the project finished by the end of the next year.
