Oakland City council approves lower speed limit on Washington St.

OAKLAND CITY, IN (WFIE) -

Drivers in Oakland City should watch for a lower speed limit on Washington Street.

The council approved changing the speed limit from 30 miles-per-hour to 20 on Washington between Franklin and Grove.

Mayor Hugh Wirth says there are lots of children in the area and he wants to prevent any accidents from happening.

Signs have been ordered.

The new speed limit will be enforced as soon as signs are posted.
