Students from IL high school take the train to prom

CHICAGO (WGN/CNN) -

Limousines are so passé, at least to students at Plainfield East High School in Illinois.

Around 700 students chartered a Metra train to get to their prom Friday.

It only cost about $10,000.

School officials say they often charter buses on prom night. However, hailing this train was cheaper and easier and it was something that had never been done before at this scale.
