Officials consider fix for two Daviess Co. lakes

DAVIESS CO., KY (WFIE) -

Erosion and shallow water are creating problems at two Daviess County lakes.

Park officials are now considering a plan to fix it.

They say the lakes at Yellow Creek Park and Panther Creek Park were dug incorrectly when they were first built.

The bank is eroding allowing vegetation to grow and that impacts fisherman.

"Well, I haven't been doing any good this year,” says Michael Reynolds, an Owensboro fisherman. “Three years ago, I used to come down here and I used to just tear them up. But this year, I think I caught one fish out here."

There's no set cost yet for the project.

Park officials say it will take six months to drain the lakes if the proposal is approved.
