DUBOIS CO., IN (WFIE) - A Holland man was arrested on drunk driving charges following a vehicle crash in Dubois County.
Investigators say 51-year-old William H. Johnson Jr. was traveling south on Portersville Road, south of County Road 600 North on Friday afternoon.
Officers say Johnson attempted to overtake a newspaper carrier's vehicle in a no passing zone. The left side of Johnson's vehicle struck the right front of the carrier's car.
After the collision, investigators say Johnson lost control and went off the roadway. His Saturn struck a utility pole. We're told the pole broke and left live electric lines on top of his vehicle.
A Dubois REC crew was able to cut the power and Johnson exited his vehicle.
Deputies say Johnson appeared to be intoxicated. He was transported to Memorial Hospital for a blood test, which showed a blood alcohol content of .256%.
Deputies say Johnson was jailed after being medically cleared.
The newspaper carrier, 45-year-old Dawn Herring of Jasper, refused treatment at the scene. She was transported by personal vehicle to Memorial Hospital for treatment.
