Federal grant to help fund Jacobsville Streetscape no longer an option

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

After looking into a federal grant that could help pay for the Jacobsville Streetscape, supporters say they're back to their original plan.

That involves asking the Evansville City Council to approve bonds for the $13-million project.

Supporters say the federal TIGER grant is no longer an option because they say the neighborhood is still poorly developed.

If the Streetscape is approved and completed, they'll have a much greater chance of being approved in the future.

With city council's approval construction could start on that as early as August.
