GIBSON CO., IN (WFIE) - A man is in jail after authorities say he tried to jump into traffic while high on bath salts.
It happened Wednesday evening around 7 p.m. on State Road 65 near County Road 350 South.
Gibson County Central Dispatch says they got multiple 911 calls about a man acting erratic and attempting to jump into oncoming traffic.
While officers were heading to the scene, one caller told dispatch that the man had managed to jump into a semi that he had stopped on SR 65.
Owensville Deputy Town Marshal Jason Wright was able to stop the semi near County Road 400 South and identify the suspect as 22-year-old Ernest Holland III, of Albion, IL.
The driver of the semi told officials that he had to stop his semi to avoid hitting Holland, and before he could lock his vehicle Holland had jumped inside.
Authorities say Holland was acting very erratic at the scene and admitted to officers that he had used Bath Salts earlier in the day.
He was taken to the emergency room at Gibson General for evaluation and then to the Gibson County Jail.
He is charged with Public Intoxication.
