Sacramento officials applying for $500K grant to build new fire station

SACRAMENTO, KY (WFIE) -

Sacramento city officials are applying for a $500,000 grant to build a new fire station.

Mayor Betty Howard says they're growing out of the current building, and there are some structural damage.

She says building a new station is a matter of public safety.

“We have one bay, we could use at least a four bay because that would allow us to put our equipment in there and have everything at one location and that way when they go when they need anything its right there,” she said.

Howard is still working out the details for the grant. She expects to submit their application by the end of the summer.
