Honor Flight of Southern Indiana to become national hub

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

Honor Flight of Southern Indiana will officially become the newest chartered hub of the Honor Flight Network beginning Wednesday, April 8.

As the 133rd network hub, it will serve Crawford, Daviess, Dubois, Gibson, Knox, Lawrence, Martin, Orange, Perry, Pike, Posey, Spencer, Vanderburgh, and Warrick Counties in Indiana.

Board members and other supporters will kick off the new hub during a celebration at Evansville Regional Airport at 2 p.m. Wednesday. It will include the unveiling of a new website and logo.

This comes after the first Honor Flight out of Evansville back in October 2014.

Another Honor Flight is scheduled for May 30, 2015, which will be the first official flight for the new hub. Mayor Lloyd Winnecke will officially proclaim that day as “Honor Flight of Southern Indiana Day” in the city of Evansville.
