Welsh couple marries in Owensboro

A bride and groom came all the way from the UK to get married in Owensboro this afternoon. Welsh citizens Arwell and Catherine Bell were married at the Hampton Inn Riverfront by Daviess County Judge Executive Al Mattingly.

Arwell says the two met 15 years ago while working for the same company. They struck up a friendship and things clicked. Arwell had visited Kentucky a couple of times and says he wanted to get married in Owensboro because the town felt like a home away from home. Today's wet weather didn't spoil the grand occasion. "It would have been an ideal place and the situation...maybe not today with the rain and clouds and everything, but that's just like home so it's always raining in Wales so a bit of rain doesn't hurt the occasion," said Arwell Bell.

The couple will stay in Owensboro for a few more days before traveling to Chicago as part of their honeymoon.
