Ark to host Magical Fairy Tale Ball on April 11

At the third annual Magical Fairy Tale Ball, presented by Cold Stone Creamery, kids live out their fairy tale dreams.

Ark Crisis Childcare Center invites moms, dads, kids and all families to dress in their Sunday best and interact with their favorite fairy tale characters.

"Fairy Godparents" can help give Evansville's most vulnerable children a magical night too. For a $25 donation, you can send one of the kids helped by Ark to the ball.

For kids who have come from abused or neglected homes, this may be the one night of the year where they get to feel like a prince or princess. Their ticket, clothing, hair and makeup are all paid for with the Fairy Godparent donation.

The list of fairy tale favorites coming to the ball this year includes: Cinderella, Elsa and Anna, Snow White, Prince Charming and Rapunzel.

The event also includes an elegant, "kid-friendly" dinner, dancing and crafts.

The ball is Saturday, April 11, from 5-8 p.m. at the Evansville Country Club.

Tickets are $35 for kids 12 and under and $50 for adults. Click here to buy them.

The money raised will support the Ark center's services.

Angie Cooley with Ark Crisis Childcare Center says this comes at a good time as April is Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Awareness Month.

Ark hopes to bring as much attention as possible to the issue because the problem is worse in our area.

Vanderburgh County's abuse and neglect rates are much higher than the state average and more than double the national average.
