Searching for answers in Daviess Co., KY after two dogs are shot and killed

DAVIESS CO., KY (WFIE) -

Sheriff's deputies investigating an illegal dump site on Roby Road in eastern Daviess County made the discovery.

Two Great Pyrenees had been shot and killed.

The dogs were wearing collars, but deputies aren't sure if they belonged to anyone.

The Daviess County Animal Shelter is hoping someone will recognize the male and female dogs and come forward with information about what happened.

"Even if somebody claims that there was reason to shoot them, there's always another placement for the dogs," said Ashley Clark, Daviess County Animal Shelter. "So I mean dogs like that, Pyrenees, they're usually easy going even if they were, worst case scenario if they were chasing livestock or something like that. They can be placed in another home with a fenced in yard and an atmosphere where there's no livestock, so there's no reason for a death sentence for dogs."

If you have any information regarding these dogs, you're asked to call the Daviess County Sheriff or the Daviess County Animal Shelter.
