EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

An Evansville man is sentenced to a year in federal prison on the charge of being a drug abuser in possession of a firearm.

According to the U.S. Attorney's office, 20-year-old Deriontai "Pook" Mathis pleaded guilty in February.

The charges stems from a joint investigation by federal, state and local law enforcement into the activities of the "300 Wag Block" gang in Evansville.

According to authorities, Mathis was identified as a person who sold firearms to members of the gang.

In addition to a year behind bars, Mathis will be supervised for 3 years after he's released from prison. During that time, Mathis must submit to regular drug testing and treatment.
