Katterhenry climbs as Aces finish4th

JACKSONVILLE, FL(WFIE) -  Kayla Katterhenry matched Monday's round of 79 as she finished in fourth place in the Don Benbow Intercollegiate at Jacksonville Beach Golf Club.

Katterhenry posted a 79 in each of her two rounds to finish with a 158.  Her score was three shots off the win.  Cleveland State had a duo tie atop the leadeaboard as Allyson Hackman and Sophie Kelner each notched a 155.  Arielle Roberts of Central Michigan took third with a 157.

Cathy Doyle moved up into a tie for 9th place.  She followed Monday's round of 81 with the same score of 81 on Tuesday.  She came home with the top ten thanks to her 162. 

Next up for the Aces was Giulia Mallmann. She had one of her best tournaments at UE, finishing tied for 15th with five other golfers.  Mallmann recorded an 82 on Tuesday to finish with a 168.  Fourth for Evansville was Maggie Camp.  Her final total of 178 tied her for 33rd

Kelly Lamarche rounded out the top five as she carded a 95 en route to a 184.  Lamarche tied for 40th.  Coming in 48th was Dana Hayden, who improved by three strokes on Tuesday to finish with a 95.  She finished with a 193.

Rachel Marchi had one of the top improvements in the tournament, shooting nine strokes lower in the second round.  After a 103 on Monday, Marchi fired a 94 in the final trip around the course on Tuesday.

Despite CSU taking the top two spots, Butler was able to earn the team win.  The Bulldogs finished with a 644 to defeat Cleveland State by 14 strokes.  USI took third with a 660 while Evansville was 4th with a 666.  They finished ahead of fifth-place Valparaiso, who totaled a 667.

Coming up next for the women is the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate.  It will be held on Monday and Tuesday in Sevierville, Tenn.

    We have an update on a deadly fire in Ohio County.  Another child has died as a result of the mobile home fire that happened earlier this month.  Christin Henry posted the sad news on Facebook late Sunday. Ireland was seven-years-old. Her brother, four-year-old brother John-Ross Henry, died at the hospital two weeks ago.  Two-year-old Ivy Henry was found dead inside the home the day of the fire.     For a week now, crews have been putting up rides, tents, and stages at the Vanderburgh County 4-H Center for the annual county fair. Officials say that preparations for this year's fair began immediately following the 2017 fair, but today was all about putting the finishing touches on the week-long event.
